STORY
The House In Dublin is about crossing into someone else's real world and realising it might become part of your own. Travelling to Dublin becomes more than a summer trip; it is a first true step into her roots, her home, and her family, with the house standing as a symbol of belonging that feels both warmer and more frightening than romance alone. At its heart it is about the fear of being welcomed after years of learning to survive distance and conflict, where meeting her mother becomes the real test. Irish Celtic textures give the track its sense of place while nu-metal weight keeps the tension alive — hopeful, but never naïve.
LYRICS
[Intro] Summer rain on an old road Green fields under grey I’m crossing into your world And I’m learning how to stay [Verse 1] Bag packed light but my chest weighs more One more flight, one more open door Not just a trip, not just a place It’s your bloodline, your roots, your name I’ve seen storms, I’ve seen walls I’ve seen love turn cold in halls So I don’t trust peace when it looks at me Like something I was meant to keep But there’s Dublin on the horizon And your hand still holding mine I’m trying not to ruin the moment By reading fear between the lines [Pre-Chorus] This is more than summer More than streets and rain I’m stepping into family And I don’t know if I know the way [Chorus] In the house in Dublin Under summer rain I might find a piece of me I thought I’d never claim At the table, by the fire With the ghosts laid down I’m scared to call it family But I’m not running now In the house in Dublin Where the old lights breathe Maybe home is not a place I lost Maybe it’s a door left open for me [Verse 2] And your mother’s there with knowing eyes Like she can hear what I keep inside First real test, first real flame Will I be welcome, will I feel strange? I’ve worn armour in every room Made jokes to hide the bruise But what if kindness cuts me deeper Than all the wars I’ve been through? Because I know how to stand in chaos I know how to survive the noise But I don’t know how to sit at dinner And feel like I was given a choice [Pre-Chorus] So I breathe before the doorway Try to quiet all my doubt You look back like “come with me” And I don’t turn around [Chorus] In the house in Dublin Under summer rain I might find a piece of me I thought I’d never claim At the table, by the fire With the ghosts laid down I’m scared to call it family But I’m not running now In the house in Dublin Where the old lights breathe Maybe home is not a place I lost Maybe it’s a door left open for me [Bridge] If the walls are warm If the voices stay kind If I don’t have to disappear To make it through the night If there’s room for the broken If there’s grace in the air I’ll leave my fear at the threshold And try to meet you there [Breakdown] I’m not used to this Not used to calm Not used to hands That mean no harm Not used to being Seen and still kept Not used to love Without a debt But I’ll walk in I’ll stand there true Not as a ghost Passing through No old escape No running blind Just your world opening One door at a time [Final Chorus] In the house in Dublin Under summer rain I might find a piece of me I thought I’d never claim At the table, by the fire With the ghosts laid down I’m scared to call it family But I’m not running now In the house in Dublin Where the old lights breathe Maybe home is not a place I lost Maybe it’s a door left open for me In the house in Dublin If they make some room I’ll bring the man I’m becoming And the heart that chose you [Outro] Summer rain on an old road Green fields under grey I’m crossing into your world And I’m learning how to stay
